Default GS in the rain?

does anyone have a problem with sliding in the rain? i have an awd. i slide sometimes around curves in the rain. even if the road is wet and the rain has stopped sometimes i slide. is this because the car is heavy and big? i can only see how it is with snow performance.

my dad had problems getting traction in his old LS400 and his current LS430. he's a conservative driver too. i have a GS300 with awd and never had traction problems. maybe you're trying to accelerate too quickly or taking turns too quickly?

+1.... taking a turn too quick will also cause you to slide.... AWD's AWD.... it's made so you dont get stuck in loose dirt or to somewhat prevent you from sliding... taking a corner in awd is the same... it'll prevent you as much as humanly possible, but it won't stop it 100%, unless you're taking a corner at a conservative speed? you'll slide, no matter what vehicle you're in lol... evo, sti, G35 AWD, you name it you can slide it

I believe your going to find that the biggest factor here is the type of Tires you have on your GS for wet conditions.

I use Michelin Pilot Sports and find them to be very good in the rain.

my car has only been in the rain twice. if i think its gonna rain i just leave it in the garage and drive my truck.

no issues with sliding.

I do have that problem sometimes, however I think with a set of good tires you should be fine.

I drive in the rain daily (it rains about half of the year here anyways). Have no problems with traction with the OEM Dunlop SP Sport 2050 that came with the car on my GS 350 RWD.

ohh.... yea, i dunno, i'm not too crazy about the factory tires.... they dont have THAT much good traction in rain or dry conditions to be honest been considering getting new tires for a while now

but i'm sure u dont take turns at 40/50, do u? lol.... for me, the dunlops aren't the best thing in the world.... on a scale of 1-10 i'd give it a 5 or 6 =[

Its your tires...... The wet grip with Goodyear Eagle DSG F1s is INCREDIBLE. I swear they bit harder in the rain

It is more likely your tires and not the car. I originally had pretty worn Pilot Sport summer tires on my car and would occasionally slide and light up the traction control when taking turns in the wet, I once did a hard U turn on the highway in the rain with oncoming traffic and did a 180 which scared the living crap out of me. After that I said no more summer tires in a rwd car that will be driven in the wet and winter and got new All season tires. I got Kumo Exsta ASX and they were so much smoother and quieter then the Pilot Sports and I never slid anymore even when trying to slide.

Its your standard dunlops that are junk tires in my experience. I got better grip with my car with the Michelin Primacy All Season tires. I have never slipped or skid once ever in the rain in the past 3 1/2 years with my AWD.
