Just get an ipod intergration ket or the VML kit from VaisTech (it plays flash drives, ipods, and other players that connect with USB).

MP3s won't work and the DVD is only for Video.

not really, you can play burned cd audio discs and it will play

06 gs, if it has ML, it can play dvd video and audio. if it doesn't have ML, it doesn't have dvd changer, only cd changer for playing cd

on 06 gs, it can NOT play burned cds with mp3 files. it can only play audio (cdda format) cd. that feature was added since 07

burned dvds with mp3 files will NOT play in any 3gs

You have to make what people essentially know as a Video DVD with just the audio. That format has a set directory structure and acceptable file formats.

I made one that worked with DVD Studio Pro. I think NERO can do it - not sure though.

Anyway, the bottom line is that making that one DVD made it pretty clear that the only viable option is to get an iPod adapter. You can get 4.3 GB of audio on a DVD, but you're left without any meaningful ability to navigate through the disk. That is, I doubt you want to make a disk with a large number of songs only to go through them one by one without being able to see anything (the DVD capabilities are meant to be locked out unless you are stopped with the parking brake on).

either do the wire cutting or get the override unit, i always go through all my song folders and such when driving

and just to stress what drepper mentioned, can't just burn mp3 files to dvd, won't play no matter what. need to either change it to dvd-a format or trick it as dvd video with just audio and then it will play.
