word in the ISF forum is that in 2010 lexus will have a credit card key as a acc option i was wondering if this would up a upgrade option or able to work a a 2006 gs
now is it just for the touch access and lock including the start or does this credit card key have small buttons on it for a manual lock and unlock like my oem key fob?
Also If i have a Gs can i get say the f-sport credit card key or is there a specific key i will have to get.
one small catch: if for whatever reason the battery dies in the credit card key, you cannot use the mechanical key inside the credit card key to open your door.
if i'm correct stormforge.... you can, because if it runs out of batteries, just like hte key fob, don't you just put it really really close to the metal to unlock the vehicle?

nope if the credit card key runs out of battery power your screwed thats the one catch to it
i'm assuming you are talking about the mechanical key inside the credit card key - the answer is yes/no; if you bought your GS and it came with a credit card key, then yes the mechanical key will still open your door (no problem). but if you just buy the credit card key from sewell lexus, the mechanical key is not coded to the locks on your GS, and so that mechanical key won't work. only way the mechanical key would work is if you specifically ordered the credit card key for your locks. and that would be more expensive than what sewell lexus offers.

I just ordered one myself... my plan: Put a hide-a-key somewhere on the vehicle with an extra BATTERY in it, just in case... that way, I'm good to go without a mechanical key. I may also keep an extra battery in my wallet - they are small/skinny enough.
also, the car does tell you that your battery may be running low at any point in time so i have an extra battery in my glove compartment... ive had the key for about 6 months so far and no problems...
