Default Help help help (this is not urgent HELP, just need input on a buying decision)

Hello to all I am new to this forum and need some help. I am trying to choose between a GS 350 AWD and a 535XI BMW. Here are some things that I am thinking about:

I have always loved a BMW but for the life of me I have no idea why.

I am not the type who likes to speed I keep the MPH around 65-70 while on the highway.

I love stuff and buttons inside a car.

What are some of the drawbacks of the GS 350 AWD I have heard the Nav is not really that reliable and that the breaks squeak really badly when it is cold?

What do you guys think?

Also I am going to get a 2009 with Nav but with out the upgraded radio how much are dealer coming off the MSRP?

I think the Lexus will provide you with better customer service and a creamier ride. The BMW will provide a better driving experience but will not be as reliable

the bmw will be plenty reliable. it's been out since 2004. bugs are mostly all smashed.

i have test driven the 535i. it rides nice and is built more solidly.

I'd go with the 535 if money were no object.

unless you like the 4x4 look of the GS...

since you're in NJ, during cold weather, you'll have your own band inside the car... complete with snares, rattles, and squeaks.

lexus navigation is not reliable? i am not sure about that, personally i think lexus probably has the 2nd best nav system out there in terms of speed, functionality, usage, etc..

Lexus Navi definitely has the speed over Acura. But, Acura definitely has the better UI.

Buy the Lexus, lease the BMW. Both are great cars with pros and cons I'm sure you explored. Lexus NAV is reliable. The major 350 drawback is a smaller back seat and more comfy handling in comparison to the BMW as well as having less options. The 5 will be redesigned next year so thats something to think about if you plan on keeping the car.

If you love the BMW and your "heart" always wanted on, maybe just go with that.

You might want to browse the BMW forums before saying that.

i haven't seen any epidemics on the forums.?
are they having turbo problems again? i know the 335i turbo overheats when driven hard and goes to limp mode. but that's all i've heard.

Turbos don't overheat, the oil gets too hot and the ECU intervenes a la "limp Mode"

So:
-Overheating
-Wastegate rattles
-Fuel Pump
-and various other issues...boost solenoids, squeeky brakes

If the price difference doesn't matter then go with 535xi.
