Hey Guys, newbie here on the site. Well I have a lexus 06 GS300 AWD. When i am making a turn like a 90 degree or u turn, the car makes a loud screatch sound, like metak rubbing on metal or something. Similar to a brake sound when the pads need to be changed. I know its not the brakes bc it only happens when I am turning not when I am breaking. What is the problem and how much would it cost to fix it. I am out of my warranty so cant just go to the dealer and get raped by them. thanks

 

just because your not braking doesnt mean its not the brakes. id check out the pads to see how they are. does it only happen when you turn in one direction or does it happen when you turn both ways?

 

did u get the 3 major recalls done on your car ? (steering rack, fuel rails , and brake calipers)

 

It only makes the sound when I turn one way, not the other. yes I have got the 3 major recalls done about 5 months ago

 

its your brakes

 

Record the sound if its loud.

 

if its metal on metal then most likely its your brakes, but you said that it only happens when you turn which puzzles me, and im gonna assume that your car is completely stocks so there should be nothing interfeering....if i were you id take a close hard look at the side that is causing the noise and see if there is anything out of the ordinary. Other then that I have no clue...
