Exclamation Does Your Dustless Brake Pad Squeak ALL THE TIME???

So I'm sitting at my dealership right now. Took a quick ride with a tech earlier and could NOT reproduce the squeak. They are putting my 3GS on a jack and taking a look anyway. Got plenty of pads left, last time I heard the noise was last Saturday the 16th. Please vote if you have dustless brake pad and how often you hear it! Thanks!

i still have the dusty brake pads, and they squeaked a couple of times. i thought about taking my car in to get the tech look at it, but because the squeaks are so few and far between, i know they will not be able to reproduce it either. i'm waiting for the pad to sqeak more on a consistent basis before i bring my car in.

AY...i had the latest warranty work done on my brakes. I basically get a nasty squeak at startup. then no issues after i get rolling. did you get the new shims, brake calipers?? my service guy said i had some "glazing" on my disc. he told me to kinda ride the brakes at a lower speed to burn off the glazing. good luck man. keep me posted.

later...b

Hey B! Hmmm, I have to check with the squeak at start-up. Last time I noticed it was when I've been driving around and was slowing down going through neighborhoods near the destination.

As for the actual work done, nothing today because it was not reproducible. I will definitely keep you updated!

For many people including myself the brakes squeak only when they are cold.

Guys, here is the latest TSIB for the squealing brake pads (might not be the newest, but in my case it is):

TSIB L-SB-0121-08
-new clips;
-new brake pads (different from high friction and low dust);
-resurface rotors.

I had it done over six months ago, so far so good. I have purposly parked my toy outside to see if the mositure and cold would create squeak, thous far is quiet as it can be.

Hope this helps, it did with my toy!!!

Steve

P.S. If they are not welling to corporate, just talk to the service manager directly... Besides I do not really understand why they would not do it, b/c Lexus will pick up the tab on parts and labor!?!

I had new shims to fix the squealing brake noise at cold
temperature couple months. Also had no dust pads replaced at the same time. Same like you, sometime at warm temp., a nasty squealing noise at start up, but no more noise after rolling.
Can't duplicate the problem all the time.
