Flooded GS...so pissed
I really need to vent and need some advice...
Took my car for service on monday picked it up tues morning. Rainfall all day tuesday while @ work got into my car noticed windows partially fogged (no windows weren't left open). So I start engine and AC quickly clears up foginess, so I really didn't think anything of it (dunno why?). Anyways parked my car in my garage, the next morning I realize a hump under my drivers side floor mat...I'm like WTF. I lift the mat and realize the carpet is wet. I immediately call my service guy....he assumes I left my windows down...so I bring it in and he inspects and finds all four carpet areas are wet....while nothing else is wet. He smells it and say this has been like this for a while...I don't think so since I clean/vacuum my car weekly. Anyways he asks me how many miles (42K) and says I know what happened...AC valve clogged. This is covered under your warranty...I will need your car for a week (w/loaner).
He said they're basically going to take out the carpet clean it and dry it and fix the AC problem.
Has anyone ever heard of this??? and Why wasn't this discovered when servicing my car? I thought that's what I paid for.
Not sure if I should ask them to replace the carpet because I'm not so sure the smell will go away.
Also is this is an AC valve problem why did it only occur when real bad rainfall and immediately after servicing.
Sorry had to vent...thx for reading...any advice?

Oh, man, this is weird because the exact same thing happened to my neighbor's ES330. After a good rain one day, and the floor mat on the driver side of his car was soaked. I told him that it was his moon roof, but he insists that his son was playing the remote, and got the windows rolled down. So, he proceeded to take the car apart, and threw the carpet in the dryer. Problem solved. It rained again the following week, and this time he knew for sure his windows were up, and the remote is well hidden from his kids. He now admits it's the moonroof. He brought it in to the dealer, and they said that "it happens more than they're willing to admit on these cars". I asked if they meant the ES, or all models but he didn't know. The problem is there's a tube that connects to the drains on each corner of the moonroof opening. This tube is routed down through the A pillar, and the water is drained out at bottom of the front doors. This tube often get disconnected from the drain, so the water is leaked into your floor board. It has been 3 days, and he's still in the loaner.
Good luck with your car.
Good luck with your car.

Lexus Fanatic
thank god it was fixed in the 07
mine is a late production 07, so i shouldn't have this problem hopefully
perfect example of why you don't buy 1st year models.

Well I'm just glad it happened while still under warranty. Other 06/07's better check with their local service guy. If it happens @ 50K+ might be worse than my situation.

Folks - Lexus is pretty good about this... if there is a bulletin about the problem, I am sure you'll be able to work something out with Lexus warranty or not... Call consumer affairs if the dealer isn't giving you love.
