Hi guys I've been asking around to see if the ipod kit worked on my 06 gs430,
everyone said it couldnt be installed
and I even asked lexus dealers and they all said no.
Then i read on some website that if you have a sat button that you can install the kit. So I bought the kit and tried it myself. I installed it and in the end it worked. I didnt want to brag or anything. I just wanted to let everybody know that the oem ipod kit works on the 06 gs430.

 

Just get the Vias unit. I have the same year car and it works for me. They are a vendor on here. I believe I have the Vias sl2iup but confirm that with them. I have navi/ml/dvd and I think that decides what kit you need. Only downfall is we have gen 4navi so the display is not as nice as what gen5 would offer.

I dont see why the OEM wont work but I havent tried or know anyone that has.

 

is the 2007 gs gen4 or gen5?

Yea just 06 model year then it went to Gen5. OP has Gen 4 since they have an 06. Its okay but not as nice as the newer gen and how it displays. Just installed Sirius and Vias iPod Video unit. Got to give it to them! Nice stuff and easy to install. Even running the antenna to the trunk was pretty easy.

 

Would it be possible to get a copy of the install instructions? I just bought this pt54500082 and have been looking for instructions on installing.

does lexus oem unit show artist/song/playlist name on the screen? if yes, is it limited to 10 characters?

 

can't remember exactly what it shows, but it's a lot more restrictive than the vaistech unit for sure. compared my viastech with my friend's oem unit before and he said the oem doesn't show close to as many info as vaistech

 

I got the lexus ipod integ and the only place it shows artist name and track title is when you click on "Text". All in all its good, I really can't say much because I don't have a vais but I cannot complain, I got my unit for 90 dollars (before I found it for so cheap, I was going to order the vais Slivi2)

Its plug and play, so the hardest part was wiggling the nav unit whole piece out of place to get to the back.

 

correct me if I'm wrong, but you cannot have XM and the IPod adapter installed at the same time, correct? (meaning the OEM Ipod kit and OEM XM radio)

 

that's correct. its one or the other.

 

i had the lexus oem and it sux!
went back to get the vais with video n happy ever since. the vais shows text of artist, title, album, and videos play through the nav. very cool!

 

correct, the oem ipod kit actually takes up the XM radio slot, so you can't have XM anymore

on the other hand vaistech integrates with the DISC button and you can still have XM if you wish
