50% front/35% all around
I have the gray interior as well. You can see into the car because the sun is beaming in from one side. I didn't tint the car so people wouldn't see me, but rather to block some sunlight and UV protection. Plus, as a bonus it won't put more wear on the dash overtime due to the sun always beating on it. IMO, tint looks great when you can see a figure of the person, thats also another reason probably why I haven't been pulled over for the front tint.

ek9vboi - Sweet shot!

I do agree with you about getting tint block UV rays not to block others. Dark tint draws too much attention from the cops

It isn't (but it looks cool ). California law states that non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield only. And State law does not allow medical exemptions that would allow you to use special tint.

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/CA/

Indiana Window Tint Law also only allows the top 4 inches but does allow medical exceptions.

But its not illegal until you get pulled over.

Too easy of a reason for them especially if they are trying to improve their stats at the end of the month

Yeah, nothing **** off a cop more than not being able to see who is driving the car.

Turn on the cabin lights or open up the moonroof. Problem solved for some, but those with dark tints, your on your own.

15% tint is waaaaaaaay too dark for a windshield. the percentage value given to tints is the visability percentage. ex: limo tint is around 5%.

50% tint is the lightest tint most companies offer. it really isnt that dark at all. its perfect for windshields.

Here's my experience...

When I was in college (read stupid), I used to have my windshield at 18%. The rear window had one layer of 5% and another layer of 20%. The side windows had 2 layers of 18%. You couldn't see anything indside the car. Contrary to belief, I could see relatively well at night and during rain.

I was pulled over several times for it. Over the course of the 5 years that I drove around like that, I'd say I had to remove it 4 times. Here's why I kept putting it back on. With the other windows so extremely dark, when I would remove the film from the windshield, it let way too much light in. I couldn't see out of the other windows during the day because the sun made it too bright inside. It's hard to explain, but trust me, if you go dark on the other windows, tinting the front windshield will actually make it easier to see at night.

If you're dead-set on being hassled by the PD, by all means go dark on the front. I grew up and realized that my lead foot was enough reason for me to give the PD to pull me over.
