no you have to hit the little button on the door handle or the lock button on the key fob.

someone correct me if i' wrong, but i don't think it's possible. the only way you can do this would be with an aftermarket alarm system

Yeah I'm curious too. I'm always freaking out after going to the place I'm going to that I forgot to lock the car!! And then I go back and check and it's always locked....

Hehe... I've had the car for 5 months now too!

At first i thought it was auto lock when i walk away from my car since walking up to it will open it...i even left lots of valuable stuff in my car too. I later read manual and found out it didn't lock when i walk away. I felt like an idiot all those times...but i was lucky no theft happen.

One other thing we learned. Don't hang around the car too long after locking, because it will automatically unlock.

My '08 doesn't unlock when approaching. It does unlock when I touch the inside of the handle. Was this different in a previous model??

I'm curious if there is a way to shut the headlights off when locking via the doorhandle button - the same way you can shut the headlights off with the fob (2nd time you hit the lock).

If you stare at the car long enough it'll automatically unlock too.

Don't the headlights shut off automatically once you open the door?

yeah, maybe if you leave the headlights in "Auto".

i wouldnt know about that though.....i dont leave my lights in auto. if you leave the lights in the "On" position and walk away from the car, to get the lights off two things can happen i believe:

1) press the key fob lock button twice
or
2) i believe they will stay on for approx 30 seconds and then turn off.

im confused a little cuz i cant exactly remember how i wanted the locking system work when i customized my settings upon delivery. i do remember i screwed with em a little bit though.

whatever, i make sure i lock it anyway.....
