Just picked up the 8.1 the other day at the dealership.. They wanted to charge me $40 to "install" it. I opt to put the disc in myself and chose which region you are located. 5 secs of work and saved $40 bucks!

I think it came out to about $250 or something with tax?.. I forgot but all I remembered was them trying to hose me over for $40 bucks!

it's totally lame that they are trying to rip that 40 bucks off you... they should have installed free!

agree. it's as easy as ejecting a dvd, loading another one and choosing the right region from the touchscreen. they should do it for free but if not, it's an easy do it yourself. from my experience would say the $250ish purchase price is about right.
