Default automatic headlights not turning off

does anyone have a problem with the automatic headlights not turning off? it's very intermittent, so when i take it to the dealers they aren't able to replicate it. it's starting to be a more common occurrence, and causing my battery to die if i don't turn it off manually. any ideas or suggestions?

If you leave your headlights on automatic and you get out the car and lock it, it should turn off.

No problems w/my 08 GS350 - I leave the HL on auto all the time. When it's dark and I park and get out, the lights will go off in 30 seconds. If you open a door/trunk before the lights go off, it will re-start the 30 second delay.

Yap, same here... I always turn off everything before I shut off the engine!!!

For Frebay: Use the remote to turn off the lights...

push lock once = lock

push lock again = turn off the lights

it's not supposed to go off on its own until 30 seconds later

have you tried it at all?

1) wait 30 seconds to see if it goes off
2) press lock button TWICE to see if it goes off

Default Headlights not turning off.

I've started to experience the same thing. The HL will not turn off by themselves nor when I press the lock ob the key fob twice. I have to actually turn the switch to the off position. But it's intermittent and does not happen when I need to show it to the dealer.

Antone else out there with this problem?

Frebay,

Every once in a while when I park my car in the garage for the night, the auto headlights stay on. For me, I think it is either the left or right front door switch that fools the car into thinking the doors are still open causing the lights on to stay on. The switches could be a little out of adjustment or one or both of them are simply going bad but since it has happened twice in 2.5 years, I just open and close the front doors to cure the problem. For my car anyway, it works every time.

Hope this helps.

The door switch would make sense. You can also have the dealer program it to shut off the headlight right away when the driver door is open.

even with the switch in on position, if engine is off for a while the light will still go off, at least on my car (forgot to turn it off one time)

I had the same problem and the dealer changed out a door sensor that tells the system your doors are closed and for the lights to turn off
