Hello everyone, I just bought an 06 GS-300 and wanted to know if there's another way to get the latest GPS version for my navigation system, other than paying $265.00 at the dealer.

Thanx for any help...

The new versions of maps are released each Sept around the end of the month. You need to see when your car was actually built. You either should have 2004 or 2005 maps (version 4 or 5). This is because when the 06 maps were released the 07 GS was for sale.

You can currently purchase the 07 maps. Wait until late Sept and you can get the 08 maps (remember that the maps are 1 year older than the version you get). This means that the 08 maps actually use 2007 road information.

Try to find a used copy. I sold my 2007 maps for cheap.

Go to http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/ to find it with $40 discount.

if you want the newest, pay the dealer to be sure you are getting what you want. if you want to upgrade to something less you can sometimes find used copies on ebay. at your peril, be sure you are getting an original not a copy and be sure you are getting a generation 4 dvd to go with the hardware in your 06. you can buy dvd v 5 or 6 or 7 or the newest 8, whatever you want. they all come in a gen4 version used in 06s.
