I'm looking at getting the GS 450h from the dealer but am curious, which version navigation should it come loaded with? The new 8.1 or a 7.1?

Differences between the two versions?

On the early '07 Jan-Oct production model should come with 6.1 version.

Late '07 Oct-Dec production model should come with 7.1 version.

 

yeah i also think most of the 07 has 7.1, with maybe only the very late 07 maybe getting 7.1 the 08 gs came out in end of the oct 07, somehow i thought 07 MY production stopped around june or july

either way, 8.1 just came out and it's only on 09 (unless you upgrade of course)

 

upgrading is as easy as ejecting the dvd and putting the new one in. hard to say what differences there might be in a particular area. another year+ of new roads, addresses or points of interest/business. how much difference that makes would depend on where your drive and how you use the system. if most of the time, you are punching in a specific address rather than searching by name or category the upgrade won't make much difference.
