I think way to keep it cools is tint the front too, other than that heat still get through your car by the front windshield

Also, when parking in the sun, I always park so that my untinted front windshield is not facing the sun... so the back windshield gets most of the direct sun. Also put the sunshade up sometimes.

3M Crystalline - 40 sides and rear, 70 on windshield. Flint Mica / Black car and it's now comfortable in GA and FL summer heat. Significantly reduced heat transfer through the glass. Both are great but no convenient HO dealers to me.

Not all tint is created equally so to simplify the comparison by saying Huper Optik vs 3M is an over simplification to say the least.

3M makes window film for just about every taste and budget. If you want to compare HO vs. 3M you would want to compare HO vs. 3M's Crystalline tint. The lower level 3M tint like Color Stable does not offer anywhere near the same level of UV protection as Crystalline.

If your goal is darker windows any brand name can accomplish that, If you want actual UV protection Crystalline is what you need to look at vs. HO. Any name brand film installed by a competent installer should look good. Saying that you had X,Y or Z tint put on your car and it looked good really bears little weight in the comparison.

I've seen comparisons between both HO and Crystalline with a heat lamp and comparable shades of tint from both companies and the Crystalline wins every time.

I have 3M Crystalline on my IS F (40 on the sides and back and 70 on the windshield) and I had just had 3M Color Stable installed on my wife's 2011 GS Color Stable 35 on the side and rear windows. We choose the Color Stable because: 1. the car is a lease so spending $800 + on tint did not make sense. 2. She just wanted darker windows. My car has Crystalline because I bought it and plan on keeping the car for a bit longer and I wanted UV protection.

All tint will block UV rays to a certain degree, how much is where the more expensive film comes into play. I think a lot of people buy Huper Optik because of the German sounding name and automatically assume that it's better without really comparing what's out there.

Yes that's the correct way of doing it with soapy water and razor blades.

Default Removing film

I would not worry about removing film from a vehicle. An established shop can remove film easily and safely.

Huper is a great film for your side windows. I cannot install huper film on back glass or windshields. You are buying and selling misinformation. Just because allot of people do it, does not make it right.

3M Automotive Window Film is made specifically for automotive and can be heat shrunk without ghosting or two piecing the film. They are also backed for life.

If you curenty own huper, go outside and place a BTU meter under your back glass or windshield. I guaranty you will enlighten yourself. Notice on all of those videos you are watching and recommending: it is flat glass. The decision is easier once you understand what the film can and cannot do for you. Then go to the shop that sold you and they will show you the fine print. I hope information helps your decision.

I wish Huper was the better choice, there are allot of loyal customers to serve.

Its fairly easy on the side windows with the razor and soapy water but not sure how they get it done on the rear window if you want to keep the defrost lines intact.

I haven't found Crystalline installed for less than 450. The $100 technology was good enough for the eighties, is prefer the new technology. Now if you want to wait thirty years Crystalline should be a lot cheaper.

That's just too much to pay for tint IMO.

Great heat blockage in the Houston summer. I can hold my hand in the sun coming through front windshield and then move it to the sunlight through the side window and it feels 100% cooler. Saves me from hot leather and running the A/C so much... not sure what the payback time on fuel savings is, but just avoiding a super hot car is really nice.
Hi.
I just joined the forums and saw your message that you got your car tinted for $350 with Huper Optik.
Can you kindly share the store you got it done for??? atleast it a bit cheaper than 500
