This whole need for an add on thing really stinks.
Toyota and their safety BS.
I had a Toyota part remote start installed on a Toyota by the dealer.
You start the car with the remote and then when you unlock the car,the car stalls only to have to restart.
Another jerk 0** Toyota safety feature.

Actually it works... All procedures to create the disc still holds the same as the 07. Here is another example https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=309318

the unit might be the same, the way it functions (30 secs vs 5 mins) for sure isn't.

I have a 2008 GS350 AWD and I tried using a version 5.1 LOADING.KWI file I found on a filehosting site found in one of the threads posted here (link as per this post) with version 7.1 maps but my unit failed to take the disc.

I followed sonartech's method (although my media differed - used Verbatim DVD+DL, although I doubt this is significant, seeing that Verbatim is a much better quality media than Memorex) to make the hybrid disc.

Are the 08 GS350s using Gen 5? I don't have the OEM DVD navigation disc on me right now, but I could have sworn I saw U22 when I was trying to make the hybrid disc. Isn't that Gen 4? I'm thoroughly confused.

On the 08 and newer GS. The nav drive will not read the 5.1kwi loading file.

I have tried numerous time with different brand disc, different softwares. 5.1 loading file with 6.1 data and 5.1 loading file with 7.1 data. Wasted 20 disc and many countless of hours.

So i did the nav hack wiring cutting along added switch at first. But this option only gave me 30 seconds to input address or poi search.

My buddy who has a shop that does custom audio and alarms. Fabricated a custom little rectangular box that will trick the nav computer and send out vehicle speed pulse that my car is only moving at 1mph. Everytime i turn on the switch it allows me UNLIMITED TIME for address and poi input.

Thanks!!

With the time limits, cutting wires, not able to load 5.1kwi loading file etc,i may just leave things the way they are...at least at this point.
It stinks that Lexus has this silly safety policy when most other auto manufacuters have a NAVs that work on the road while moving.

Thats the problem with Lexus and Toyota, they let their lawyers design their cars, not engineers

That's a bummer! I don’t get it why did Lexus want to invest $$ making changes to the navigation drive? Toyota does not seem have this limitation. Both my co-worker’s 08 Camry and 08 Sienna are able to use this 7.1+5.1 disc…

the ebay one works just fine.. it has a time limit so you just have to input your destination in the time allotted but it isn't a big deal... at least i haven't had any issues with it...
