if you want true hid fogs, you need hid kits... if you just get bulbs those are still just halogen

omg, nono. Don't do what I did. Blue bulbs is NOT HID. Its a colored bulb to give you a whiter look to your fog lights. I had HID in my fogs but for some reason I got radio static with it on.

ok....ill admit it! i cheaped out and got the Nokia halogens instead of spending the $$$$ and getting the HID kit. But ive ridden in another 3GS with the HID's and its almost no difference from inside the car. IMHO. but from the outside.....oh!, you can tell. i decided to go with the "yellow" look anyway so...???? the yellow HID kit is not too much different even from the outside.

Go with a 6000k or 3000k HID set up for the fogs. I went with the 3000k because it provides better lighting onto the ground.

Try aiming the fogs up higher if you don't think there is much difference. I left mine as is since it came from the factory like that.

The stock GS HID projector headlights are bright enough to light up the night.

i haven't seen one in person on the 3gs, but on my previous cars (tl-s, gs400), the hid fogs were significantly brighter

I dunno what bulbs your friend has for his car, but there is a BIG difference in lighting. When I had the 6k hid in my fogs, it was much brighter than stock or those white bulbs. But keep in mind, the fogs tend to light up the road closer to the car. The "throw" isn't supposed to be like driving lights. Although I admit, I leveled mine to the fog light level to the ground. You can see a clear cut line for the fogs.

I so miss the hids I had. It made my driving lights look like hologens becuase of how "yellow" Lexus likes to make their lights look. Weird cuz in the movies, Lexus likes to make it as blue as possible. lol.

Go look at my sig. I think I still have photos of what the fogs looked like.
