Default First Service Punch List - Newbie Here

2008 GS 350

Both doors leak air around the interior "door pull" recess - I think the doors are not completely sealed
Occasionally the car will crank but not start. Acts like it's getting no gas. So far, had always eventually started
When accelerating from a slow start, the transmission seems to slip. THis never happens from a complete start.
Satellite signal seems weak
Text from satellite is truncated - you only get part of the info. On our MBZ you get it all.
Plastic like Saran Wrap is poking out from under dash and at the bottom of interior door panels.
Parking brake cable must have excessive slack - does not hold car.
Seat heaters are barely noticeable. Not at all like previous cars - 2 MBZ's (2001 and 2007) and one Volvo (1990).

Saran wrap poking out fromunder the dash and the door panels. Looks like whoever did the PDI (pre-delivery inspection) did not do a good job of removing all the plastic covering that came on your car during transport. I would address all these issues to your next service dept visit.

Welcome to CL. I hope your first visit to the service department will solve your issues.

I have that sameplastic. still sticking out from my door too. but amazingly it doesnt bother me. I say that because alot of things do. lol

My parking break is the same. I forgot to mention that to them. Like if its on, the car still rolls? Mines not that bad, but its not a solid grip.

heater. known complaint. not much they can do. Its just weaker. For me, its either on at 3 or off. Makes lots of noise, but I can feel the heat after a while.

Don't let the complaints you see here wear you down. its a good car. Just remember 90% of people talking is people with stuff to say about their car that they want fixed or know if others has the same issues. Forums. Just the way it is. If the car was at bad as some of make it seem, it wouldn't be made. So relaxe, talk nice, and have fun. :0

too bad you had so many annoyances at the start. give them a chance to fix those. hope you're happy with your car.

the satellite truncation is at 10 characters for older equipment or 16 characters for newer tho I don't know where your car would be in that switchover. it's a characteristic of the tuner/interface module they use and I don't think you have a choice. Lexus uses a specific model for each car in their lineup. If you are cut off at 10 and the dealer doesnt have an option for you, you can investigate alternatives through a stereo installer and Vaistech website. Best case you'll get from Lexus is 16 char I think.

"When accelerating from a slow start, the transmission seems to slip. THis never happens from a complete start."

Thats the transmission lag, it Lexus' transmission programming holding onto a higher gear to try to gas. The transmssion is not slipping. There is a lot of complains about this on other Toyota and Lexus vehicles, but you are the 1st to complain about it in a GS. Just put the transmission in sports mode and it will doenshift faster or you can try to shift it yourself.

Yeah, thats what hes talking about I think. Only happans sometimes when you are coasting and then floor it hard. The transmission sits on the gear you are in a for about a second and then downshifts and you get a surge of power. If you slowly acelarate or have the ect in power mode, it does not lag. This problem is in all Toyota / Lexus transmission as well as some other manufacturer. Sometimes barely noticable and sometimes very servere. It is actually a lot worst on Toyota's 4 cylinder engines, they have a TSB to re-program the ECU for some 4 cylinders.

Not necessarily "stomp" on it - just begin accelerating moderately from prior coasting.

BTW - I am very happy with the car-they just need to sort it out a bit. Hopefully the dealer will take care of any of the above that are actually a problem.

I WILL bother me tho if they don't fix the satellite truncation. I think mine might be limited to 8 characters.

Your GS is a 08, it should be 16 characters, but I dont think there much the dealer can do but it doesnt hurt to ask.
