Really...How do our side mirrors tilt?

Default Really...How do our side mirrors tilt?

Ok, my side mirrors don't tilt down the way I wanted them to. Most of the time, they tilt maybe 5 degrees only. And I see basically the same thing as before they tilt. So whats the purpose of them tilting down?

I have seen my friend's cars side mirrors tilt down in reverse until they see the curb or somewhat the ground. But how much do ours tilt down? like in factory settings......how it REALLY supposed to be?

I'm having my car put in service to replace my passenger side mirror, but I do think the driver side is not working right too. Oh well, the service consultant at the dealership refused to change both side but the passenger side only. I just want to know its me or the mirrors really acting up.

It should tilt down so you can see the curb. You should be able to change the settings, read the owner's manual. That is, unless both mirrors are broken somehow, which i highly doubt.

I agree, you should be able to see the curbs when they go down if they do not do that you should take it into a dealer and they will replace it for you. I had the similar problem and will have it check out soon......

I already have mine checked out at my local dealership. The service guy came out and check with me after they claimed there is nothing wrong with my vehicle. Both mirrors dont tilt down where I can see the curb, and I complaint that how there is nothing wrong?! Then after checking for another ten minute the guy finally say he will replace only the passenger side for me. But obviously both dont work. Should I go complaint to lexus corperate?

oh wait thats right, only the passenger side mirror should tilt down when in reverse. you don't need the driver side to tilt and i don't think it does either. That's why they are only replacing the passenger side mirror; there isn't anything wrong with your driver's side.

no both do on my gs350. They will not tilt if you have your side mirror thing in the drawer that allows you to adjust the viewing angle in the off position.

I know! In the manual, they call it the "accessory mode". I always have it on. So both mirrors should tilt really down to be able to see the curb right? someone reputable to confirm this?

Both do tilt from factory settings.

oh my bad, i know on some cars, only the passenger side tilts.. dont really see the need for driver side to tilt as well.

I have found that they both tilt down a fixed number of degrees, no more. Therefore, if you have them set low normally, you will see more ground when they tilt. If you have them set higher normally, you may not see the ground when they tilt.

I had problems with both mirrors not being able to tilt. Both left and right mirrors were replaced under warranty. Apparently there were a lot of problems with the mirror motors with this car.

It first started off where the mirrors would occasionally stop working, not return to the original setting, not tilt all the way...and then over time they just ceased completely.

Perhaps you have the same issue. Best of luck.

They both tilt, if only one tilts it could be the motor is bad on one of them. I had my driver side replaced because it was always getting stuck. Now they both tilt. I usually have to angle it manually down even more to see the curb.

I'm saying anyone is not reputable. What I meant was to see if someone who maybe a technician knows exactly whats going on...
