Default car going in today- question on dash creaking

Although theres no TSB that I know of, my dealer said he hasnt heard of this issue. But I hear it when I drive in the cold mornings and hotter days like 87+F. Are there really kits that dealers use to fix this noise? Or is it more just normal troubleshooting for these dealers? Is there anything I can "help" them along in fixing it? Just so they dont come back and tell me they don't hear any noise because the weather is balmy 80deg. And they don't even try to fix it at all.

Dude there is a TSIB for the creaks and rattles. I'll look for it and pm you if I find it. Yang 1815 was cool enough to help me out with the TSIB. Which I have yet to take mine in for the rattles and creaks....kinda gunshy...don't want to end up with more rattles. Not to get off point...Didn't you have something melt in your cup holder? if so, was it ever fixed?

SS...just attempted to send you the pm on the TSIB...plmk if you received it...Later Bro.

Thanks got it. Not sure if this will help me as 90% off all the creaks is coming form the center dash. But this might explain the sound I hear higher up on the dash. Although that one happens far less.

Yup. no idea what melted it. Didnt get it fixed. I dont think lexus would cover that, although I dout they can figure out what caused it.

its funny that the tsb fixes it by cutting the parts off.

starstreak, there is no TSB for the dash creak. My dealer install a noise kit and another kit called a wind noise kit. Thay listed part numbers for the kit on my invoice, I am not sure if the part numbers are dealer specific.

That TSB is for the ticking noise, not the dash creaking noise.

If it's coming from the center of the dash, it's probably the speaker grill. Have the dealership insulate everything including clips, vents, etc. I took mine in twice and as of now it's been rattle-free. 1st time to perform the TSIBs related to rattles (window clip and rear view mirror), second time to get more insulation put in. Good luck.

Thanks. Not sure what he'll do. They said they may have my car for a week?? But at least they are being more upfront about things.

Hey, do me a favor.try and put you finger on the corner joint below the center vent and the center consol. Where I circled in red. When driving down the road, you can feel the center consol moving alot. Although depending on the temp it may not make noise.

The insulation of the AC vents will take care of that.

As in they ADD insulation or the insulation that's there was supposed to take care of that?

That is a common place for the rattle starstreak, i wrote up a way to fix it a while back not that your dealer cares

I've performed EyeKutr's 'fix'...and it's worked masterfully.
