Exclamation 06 GS430 vs. 07 GS350

Ok...here is the deal. Wait a month or two to get the GS350, or look for a slightly used 06430 now (20k-30k miles)? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? What do you guys think? I kina want the 5th gen Nav, but i really want the TQ of the 430 motor. BTW i would pick both up used.

Why you want the torque, are you towing The GS350 is faster and better on gas and the 430 have nicer leather seat and adjustable suspenion. I would get the new 350.

Faster? I though the 350 only has 10ish more HP than the 430 and 30TQ less, how can it be faster?

Unless you really want the sound and grunt of the V8, the '07 GS350 is probably the way to go. The 5th gen nav is much better than the 4th gen in the '06 GS430.

to me there is no point in getting the gs430. it's an old engine, worse gas mileage, almost the same power. 450h or 460 that's another story

AGREE!!!

GS430 = 10+ years OLD technology

vs.

GS350 = 1+ year NEW technology (direct injection = more HP except ticking noise )

Get 07 gs350, similar performance, mileage, better nav system, mp3 ability on stereo, same seats (leather same).

Looks like everyone is on the GS350 wagon . Since the 350 engine is new, is there any re-calls on it?

Torque is only good for off the line tire burning and towing. Actually performance is about the same. GS350 0-60 in 5.7 sec and the GS430 in 5.8 sec.

Din, what did you end up getting? New? Used? what kind of deal did you get?

hp and tq doesn't determine everything. while the 430 might have a bit better high end, the low end of the 350 is there (speed wise)

if the two cars are the same, the only thing that could dtermine one being faster than the other is hp and tq.

On a car, hp is a more meaningful number, but on a truck or SUV, you would go with torque.

do you know if they have the same 6 speed? do you know if they tune the ecu on fuel mapping or shift pattern / speed? do you know if they have the same gearing? do they have the exact same weight?

to me, under 80mph, the gs350 can just be as good (if not better) than the gs430. above that, the v8 starts to shine. i have nothing against v8 (in fact i always prefer the v8), but spending the same or more money on the gs430 with such an old technology? no
