Default Does the gs350 do this too?

I have a gs300 and if I need to turn and take off fast at the same time, I have to turn off traction otherwise risk getting hit. It seems that if I am turning and hit the gas hard, traction kicks in soooooo early that it feels like the car loses 1/2 its power and crawls away from the stop. It does not seem so bad going forward but I dont pay as much attention since that is not when traffic is coming at me. This morning I made a right turn wih traffic coming at me and damn near **** my pants since i forgot (did not have time) to turn off traction and floored it only to crawl away at a snails pace....I am wondering, is this a gs300 computer thing or is it the same in the gs350? I would assume it is slightly worse with 60 more horses....I do have 18s with summer tires....

Same thing on my GS350. Both on 20s and stock 18s.

Yuck - that would suck if you have to remember to turn off traction in this situation (though I guess it is doing what it is supposed to do)?

sure u can turn it off, but if ur taking a turn and the tires cant grip, its the same thing but u would polly slide out. drift = slide of die. lol

The gs300 only has 245 hp, there is no way in hell it will lose so much traction and spin out or whatever, the computer is just way too sensititve and overbearing, it behaves as if there may be frost on the road at all times.

never say never. with that kind of power and the rear being so heavy, i am pretty sure i can swing out the rear.

i admit though that the computer is pretty sensitive on the traction. but bottom line, turn it off only if you know what you are doing

Funny thing is when I turn off the traction, I simply floor it like I would otherwise, I dont really go too light and it never slips to a significant degree at all, we are not talking floor it and do a doughnut and hit the curb on the otherside LOL, we are talking moderate acceleration and the computer cuts the power on me, i think this car was meant for old ladies, or lexus thinks we drive this on frost or dirt....it sure looks perty ! LOL

Isnt that the VDIM system in action, its supposed to anticipate a skid before it occurs.

it is simple VSC, the gs300 does not have vdim, I think it kicks in pretty aggressively, I turned off ECT this morning and it is a bit better since the pedal response is slightly blunted with ECT off

correct, full vdim system only on 460 and 450h i think. 08 gs350 they say on website has vdim, but if so i don't think is full version

vsc pretty much does the same as well, if it "think" a skid is happening, it cuts power and brakes

Default No Problems.

I don't have any problems with this, but then again i have 303 hp. Compared to my old car at 140 hp. So I feel the kick every time I want to.

Oh I know what you mean, its scary. You make a turn and apply a bit too much power, you get jirked forward into your seat as the car slows. Not much you can except pray the guy wasnt following too close. BUT I dunno. I find that with it off, you tend to spin the wheels really easy on a turn. When I first got the car, I almost did a 360 when the rear slid out from under me.
