From what I understand they know what the problem is and they have found the fix. So, your car should be alright. I just picked up my replacement car tonight. I tried starting it a couple of times and so far so good, so I hope this car doesn't wind up with the same problem or this could get ugly!

Does anyone know the specific fix for this? I spoke to my dealer yesterday and they said the fix was not out yet. Is there a specific code or ticket number I need to reference for the fix? I plan to phone them back today and press the issue.

2.5months of starting problems... ridiculous!

Anyone get any concessions from their dealer?

Its been a week since the fix was applied to my GS ... and it's been a good week as the car started properly everytime, in temperatures ranging from -10C to 5C (unfortunately, it hasn't gone over 5C :-( )

... now for seeking some form of compensation as the vehicle was essentially mothballed for 3 months because of the problem ... and what interesting timing as I just got the customer satisfaction survey in the mail today ... hmmm, I think I have some feedback to give ....

Had the hard startup today...not messin' with it...going to arrange for the TSB ASAP.

Question: Anyone who has had the TSB done, how long does it take?

Since it is a software upgrade should only take minutes if not seconds?

I dropped it off one afternoon and picked up the next afternoon.

Lexus loaner for the day.

Went for the ECU Reprogramming TSB today. It took about 1/2 hr. They recognized the symptoms immediately and took care of biz.

I will have to say that although I am disappointed I have had to make a few trips back to the service dept (car has less than 700 miles)...once for a dash rattle and now this...they have really taken care of things.

Maybe they should think of applying the TSB's before allowing the car out the door....may cost a little more for them, but increased cust satisfaction (and brand loyalty) could make it worth their while.

Of course in a perfect world, these issues would be taken care of by superior design, engineering, and manufacturing.

whlkev...tech mentioned that there is not a dash rattle TSB for 2008 GS "yet"....he emphasized "yet" as he had already fixed a number of 2008 rattles.

There are TSB's for 2006's, 2007's however...but I am not sure what they are. As mentioned in many of these threads, the techs are now real pro's at dealing with rattles. In fact I have read on some posts that some service departments have interior noise specialists.

If you know approximately where the rattle is coming from and/or you can recreate it, it will help them to target and apply a remedy quicker.

Hope that helps.

MelYW, do you notice any difference in engine performance or engine noise after the ECU Reprogramming TSB. Any starting problem so far? Please keep us posted.

G man et al...I have noticed a little better gas mileage...but this is tough to discern as it is getting warmer and my car is loosening up by the mile...going on 760 miles.

The car now starts perfectly. Also seems to be less rough at idle in the morning...but again could be due to factors above.

If you have this starting misfire problem, getting the TSB is a no brainer.

I have 2000 miles on it so far, and I did experience it once. The car did not start on the 1st crank but started on the 2nd. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks

G Man, I would call them to see if your car fits within any TSB for this. They will be able to tell you over the phone. It happened to me once...and I didnt want to risk additional wear and tear on the starter as it sounded horrible.

I think they use a cd to upgrade the ECU...painless and non invasive.

It only happened once so far, if it happens a few more time, then I will called them. Since the TSB just came out, I would think it applies to all 07 and 08 GS350.

Anyone know what the best way is to give feedback to Lexus on their product/service?

I'm not happy with the engine issue and it's embarrassing for Lexus that I have to inform their Technicians of the TSB, even though they've told me for 2 weeks that they would 'look into it'. I'm not feeling the love here and I'm definitely not a happy camper.

Anyone know the best way to get Lexus proper feedback on this dealership?
