Nav System 7.1 Override?
Does anyone know of, or has figured out, a way to override the nav menus while driving other than creating a CD or taking apart the dash?? They HAS to be another "menu tapping" procedure out there that the service reps must know, like in the 5.1 versions and below. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!

don't worry, people with 6.1 are still figuring it out

Tap Upper Left, Lower Left, Upper Left, Lower Left.
Make sure you press firmly.

The system firmware is where that secret menu is located. it's there in v5 firmware but not in v7 and you're still running v7 firmware even tho you are using old v5 data.
Until you disconnect the battery for a while or pull the fuse on the Nav head, (and leave disconnected for 5+ minutes) you're still running v7 firmware even if you have v5 data dvd inserted. The firmware is the loading.kwi file on each dvd. when you insert the dvd it only reloads the firmware if it finds a newer one than is in memory. if you've been running v7 and then insert the v5 dvd, it will ingore the older firmware but it will use the old map files. by pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery, memory will be emptied. if you then insert v5, it will reload that firmware with the secret menu.

Henry i believe you do, Firmware mod just allows you to entering address when car is in motion. As for DVD playback you either do the wire mod or using the nav hack kit. I did the wire hack.. Took less than 20 minutes, and all the wire were hidden, no trace that it has been cut.
Thanks for the instructions.. I'm currently in the process of having a hybrid disk burn. If that fails, i'll use the 5.1 disk and disconnect the battery. We'll see and keep you guys updated.
