Old thread, but I just ran across these mirrors for the 3GS. They fold when you lock the doors and unfold when you start the engine. I bought my LED mirror covers from this vendor, and after 1 year I've still had no problems.

However ... my mirror covers have no moving parts. If anyone is interested, I'd make sure there is a warranty on these and ask them about the gear construction. Hopefully they are metal.

I like the idea of a metal side mirror instead of body color like our stock mirrors. But the problem is it increases lidar reflectivity and can result in a weak spot in my defenses against the local tax collectors.

Also this site only has metal mirrors for the LX.

 

I was referring to the gears that control mirror adjustment and folding. The OEM ones are plastic and have given a lot of owners problems, myself included. I was hoping that the gears on this product were metal.
