Today I took the car to the dealer, and we discussed what was going on and why I was still getting vibration in the steering wheel with the new tires. I have 1 out of round rim that was force matched with the new tire and placed in the back of the car, and kept thinking why would that wheel in the rear of my still cause vibration in my steering wheel at 50-80 mph. The service mechanic told me its due to harmonic vibration since the car is an AWD, the out of round rim deforms more over time and causes vibration to be sent down the 4WD system to my steering wheel that will make me think I have something wrong with the front 2 tires. So, I decided that even after all this balancing and force variation on the new tires and getting rid of my old tires (which somehow managed to suppress the out of round rim vibration for 10-12,000 miles after hitting the curb in the back last winter due to ice. So, I will be getting a new rim to replace that out of round rim in the rear right of my car.

Will Keep you posted.
It doesn't sound logical that a bent rear wheel cou;d cause vibration in the steering wheel. Maybe the seat or dash but not the syeering wheel. I guess anything is possible with awd.

Yep, thats what I kept thinking and saying. I did feel it through the floor a bit. When Placing that same wheel in the front, it makes it a little worse.

I was quoted 390 dollars for a new polished GS430 18 inch rim for my car to replace the bent rim.

Hey Alboston,

Thanks for letting me know about that. I contacted that dealer who is selling it to get 1 wheel instead.

Update:

Vibration gone!!! Had the right rear rim replaced due to out of round. I hit that wheel in the snow 1 year ago and never caused me problems until few months ago when I rotated and re-balanced the tires and wheel. I was told that the rim was out of round but I did not believe it was causing my steering wheel vibration since it was in the rear of the car, so I got paranoid and started looking in the front of the car and getting the dealer to check everything in the front. They finally told me since it was an AWD, the rim in the back can send vibration to the steering wheel since its all connected. Anything is possible with AWD.

So, now back to a peaceful Lexus Ride!

Woo hoo congrats. It's amazing, despite the fact wheels being manufactured well, they always have a tendency to bend no matter how bad the pothole or road imperfection is. Glad it worked out.
