Default Will Dealer disable Daytime running lights?

Does anyone know if the "average" Lexus dealer will disable the DRL's without a hassle? Do they charge for this service? If so, how much should I expect to pay? Is there a legal requirement by Lexus or the Federal government to leave them on (I don't think so)?

I have heard it depends on what state you're in. I am not sure if this is true. I had mine turned off here in SoCal. No hassle, no charge.

I don't know of any legal requirement out there (I am a Floridian, also), but I went to a dealer in Florida and they flatly told me no way, then I found out on my own.

No hassle, no charge. The dealership here has won top customer satisfaction quite a few years in a row. They would pretty much do anything for the customers. However, at first I was told that they didn't know how to do it since it's never been done before, but I printed out an instruction from CL and they not only did it, they also thanked me for the instruction and made copies of it for other customers who request to have it turned off!

Unless you are in Canada, otherwise it stated in the "owner's manual" that we do have the right to "TURN OFF" the ugly DRL!!!

That was the first thing I did when I got my toys!!!

My friend has his turned off when he took it in for the 1k service. It was no hassle... maybe it was because we had a cool lady. She is also my service advisor. lol

My dealer is REFUSING to turn the daytime running lights off. They are claiming it is a safety feature and would be illegal to do so. Of course, I challenged them on thhat claim and asked for proof that there is federal requirement for this feature.

Does anyone know why dealers are different on this issue? It makes little sense since there is no federal law. Also, do the dealers do a software programming change or do they just unplug some wiring?

Does anyone know on what page of the GS manual it states that I have the right to request the DRL's be turned off? Is the manual for the 2008 the same as the 2007?

I don't remember the exact page number in my 07 manual, but I clearly remember in the section about Lexus Personalized Setting, it listed all the features which owner can ask the Dealer to modify, according to the personal perference, free of charge within 30-day/1000 miles. DRL is one of the listed items.

However, when I just checked the same topic in Lexus website, the documentation did not mention about DRL setting adjustment http://www.lexus.com/pdf/service/GS_LPS.pdf

Has anyone had it done at Lexus of Sacramento or Lexus of Roseville? If so, who did you deal with so I can go directly to someone in the know. Thanks.
