Default 2006 AWD GS 300 Fuel Smell Problems

About two weeks ago, I started noticing a strong smell of gas emitting from my exhaust on my 2006 GS 300 AWD. I am the only owner of this car and my mileage just reached 37000. I took it to the Lexus dealer and told them about the issue, and I waited for 2 hours for them to tell me that nothing was wrong. I pleaded with the service guy to keep it over night but he told me that if something was wrong it would have showed up on the computer. Very next morning, I go into my garage to start the car and as soon as it started I began to I smell the gas inside of the cabin. I immediately turned the car off and got out and the smell of gas in the garage was extremely strong. I called Lexus service again, and they tell me I have to wait a week for them to schedule my car to get checked out. Next day I get home and find the gas line recall notice in my mailbox. I called the service center and asked them were they aware of this and they told me no. I am at the point now were I want to call corporate and complain about the way this has been handled. I am very afraid that my car may explode when I start it up to take it to them this weekend. The gas smell is just that strong. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks

I would request to speak to the service manager before you escalate the issue. I took my car in for a service a week prior to an entirely different dealership, the problem returned called my local dealership when they opened and they told me to bring it right in (and it is ALWAYS busy there). Since you brought yours in the day b4 you shouldn't have 2 wait for an opening, don't take no for an answer especially because you feel so strongly about it.

I just got the same letter in the mail today; I guess my VIN falls within range. The repair is claimed to take 3 hours or longer. While I haven't yet made a service appointment, I'd be interested to know how many affected owners on this board have had this work done? Also just how difficult is it to access, remove, and replace the fuel lines? It appears that two pipes are affected, and over time can crack due to a high stress area, corrosive agents in the fuel, age, heat, age, etc.

Anyone care to share their recall experience, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance...

Is this for 06 only? I didn't check my mail yesterday and I cannot check it until tomorrow.

hi EyeKutr
What do you mean the rear view mirror vibrate. because I heard lots of 3Gs owers complain of that. I am little bit too . But I am not sure this is normal or I can ask dealership to replace it.

----------------------------

BTY, I took my car to dealership for the recalled today. but they were too busy so they need the car for overnight. They said they will call me next day when they finish it.

There is a TSB on it, they basically replaced the mirror, the guy who put it in however left the main wire outside next to the plastic cover, what a dodo....I took the plastic cover off and tucked it in and replaced the plastic cover. Not a biggie, anyways if there is lots of vibration, tell the service advisor to do the TSB, You will need to reprogram your buttons of course. Nice wheels BTW
