Default Sad day for the GS....

Ok... I'm in Dallas,... go over to Uptown Carwash ( where I always go when I'm in town ),... pay the man $45 for a handwash due to the low profiles / rims. ...I'm gettin' my shoe shine, and in comes the attendent with a not so good look on his face, and asks me to come with him... I walk behind, and here comes a mgr,... introducing himself,... so I'm already like "what tha hell?"

They proceed to tell me that one wash technician was backin' my car out while another was coming in, and they found each other,... hence denting my car.... so I'm pist... but kept my cool, cuz he said he'd pay for it, and get it repaired. Ok... so I'm an hour and half behind schedule to see a customer.

I get over there, do what I have to do... and somewhere in there, needed to make a run to radioshack... so we ( customer & I ) roll to the store,...well Dallas has the ultra large reflector things as opposed to normal size lane dividers, or the standard issue reflector bumps. Well changin' lanes into the turning, my passenger wheels hit this humungous thing, and of course, a loud thud! I'm thinkin' ok... that was bad,... but had no idea how bad until I got back to the hotel in some light. Cracked rim ( chrome / lip ), torn tire, on the rear,... bent rim / torn tire on the front.... somehow, no leak or blow out... but damaged wheels nonetheless....

2 incidents in 1 day.... Shhhhhheeeeeeesh!

I called my insurance to see what's up on the wheel / tire damage... went back and took pics of those stupid reflector *****,.... that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen....and they are all beat to hell, so they get hit all the time....

very sorry to here that. I guess the only good thing was the tires not going flat leaving you stuck on the street.

Sorry to hear this..Those road nipples are a killer! At least you have had yours longer than my first one! Had it (07 GS 350) three weeks and a lady ran the light and totaled it! So now I'm STILL waiting on my 2008 GS350 to come in! Suppose to be here by Tuesday...

Stay safe on these roads.. You know the Ice season is on its way....So driving will be crazy for a minute.. I will park mine and drive my ES or Tundra on the bad ice days.

Also, I got ran off the road and hit a high curb in West Village. Did Rim and tire damage. Called insurance (State Farm) and had repaired in no time! Good luck Playa!

I have a story with similar spirit. A couple months ago I had insurance adjuster come out and write an estimate to repair very minor front-end damage (about a $1,000 in work). Two hours later I was driving home and rear-ended another car, completely smashing up the front to a tune of $8,000.

Sorry to hear about the damage. Almost got hit in the parking lot tonight myself. Was backing out of a spot and was almost out when I saw the Camry behind me back out without looking. Laid on the horn and the idiot came within inches of hitting me. How can you not look when you back out of a space???

I was beginning to think it was just me and that my car was hexed. Big rock chip in the windshield from something that flew from the side of the highway -fixed. Dent in the quarter panel (probably shopping cart) - fixed. Dumb broad hits me while I'm parked (not fixed). Car has to be redone by another shop because the first one crapped it up. Not that I don't like 2-toned cars or anything.

I'm sorry to hear about your GS. Car is fixable, and I'm glad nobody got hurt. But, it is painful to see your car with damages. Went through that myself earlier this year with a front bumper replacement after hit'n'run.

^ to mel's comment above: I had to fight with my insurance company to allow a proper painting of the bumper to blend it in with the hood. They were telling me "its not necessary"
