Default Lexus taking my car back!!!

was a short story but due to confusion:

the longer story as much as i can remember:

i bought my car in feb 2007 but it was an 06 so i got a super deal on it. i love the car but i started to experience the dreaded window tap. it sounded like it came from the bottom of the window on the driver side. well, after reading on here that there is a remedy, i took the car back to lexus in may to get it fixed. i brought my car in may 07.

the car was in for about 2 weeks and finally it was done and it was time for me to pick it up. my gf and i went to pick the car up and she immediately asked, why does your hood look funny? wel, the thing that was funny was the piece that covers the hood hinges were missing. im guessing that they had to replace the front cowl and they forgot to put it back. my service advisor said, maybe they are under the hood so we popped the hood. when we popped the hood, we all saw tools underneath in the engine compartment. i told my SA(service advisor) to take car of the cover and ill be back tomorow to pick it up.

about 2 days later: i went in to pick up my car and there is a chip on my rear quarter panel!!! i informed my SA and he said that they will fix it.

about 2 weeks later: i go to pick up my car to find that there is a chip on my front bumper!!! i informed my SA and he agreed it was not there before and so my car goes back in again!!!

another 2 weeks: i go to pick up my car and the front bumper is not alinged properly, gaps along my headlights and bumper to fender was not aligned and now i can see a difference in paint color in the front bumper and the rear quarter panel. the issues were addresed again and they said they will fix it.

a few weeks go by and i get a call. "your car is ready but we ran over a nail, we will replace it". i went to go pick my car up and there is over spray on my windows, my chrome window trim had scuff marks, and worse, my tire was not replaced but just aired up and it still looked flat. i told them that i am not going to take my car like this eventhough they said " you can take it and bring it back"...hell no.

a few weeks later i get a call..we are having problems matching the paint so we are going to have to blend it. when the car was done a few weeks later, i went in and saw that the door trims were not aligned anymore and the weather strip did not seat properly. i got excuses anywhere from, rubber will form itself in the heat to..that is the way it is. i refused to even sit in the car until things were resolved.

i lost track of time..but a few weeks turned into months..days whatever.. later: "your car is done sir." i went to pick it up thinking things were ready and this is what i found in five minutes:

overspray on the same molding, windows, and panels. front bumper was not aligned still.. and the worse thing i can see was... i can see the clear coat line where they stop painting!!! there were a page full of stuff wrong still..weather trim is still beat up.. now everyone in the paint business knows that you MUST clear the whole panel or else the clear coat is going to chip later. they told me that they did and i asked them if they removed the bottom balck trim then why is there overspray on it.? gotcha!!!

i was mad..they had my car since may, its november now!!! i went home and i emailed the manager a nice letter of my concerns.

the next day i got a call from the head honcho and he said he will make things right and give him a chance to undo the mess between the departments as to how in the world did this happen. i told him that i have no confidence in the company fixing my car anymore. very nice gentleman and came across well mannered and i agreed to give him a chance to do the right thing.

24 hours go by and he calls me and says..we have a car just like yours on the lot if you would like to work something out. i agreed but i started to explore the options of getting something else. so here i am waiting for them to throw down a nice deal. they are taking my car back and they only thing now is: what should i get..same color? change it to black?

They will probably do a buy back like mine, and give you what you paid minus some use fees, you can perhaps walk away or get another GS. You may negotiate the deal all over again, and do better than your original deal. They will essentially send you a buy back offer and you sign and walk away if you want. MAKE sure you also have them pay for whatever upgrades you have done, they can do that if you can show receipts.

Just try to get the car that you need, not the car that you want.

If you had the 300, it's already an upgrade to get a 350. That onto itself is a great advantage. (The GS450h is nice and more powerful, but it is also much heavier. You might as well save the $$$ and get the 350, if the prestige of owning a 450h is not worth the premium.)

Otherwise, as far as options and colors are concerned, you need to determine what is best for you. I'm pretty sure that you can't trade your GS for something that is fully-loaded just because they're replacing the car. You need to determine what you would have preferred different from your old car...

so many things in my head. i only had the car for 3 months before it went in to service so no mods. my mods are in my garage.

youre are right, the cost effective thing to do is the 350 since its the upgrade from my 300. a 450h is nice but the price is a killer.

i walked around the dealer today and i didnt see any GFM or black with ML fully loaded. i just want another GS, the same as mine and ill be happy again but it doesnt look like they have any on the lot.

should i say anything to them about making car payments and see if they will give that back to me?

That's awesome that they're hooking you up. I remember my first service at the dealership for the rattle in the back. They took the whole back seat, speaker, etc out and ended up scratching the paint on the inside of the door and some of the outside. All i got was an apology. I was furious but they didn't do anything. Not even a free oil change. Last time i'm going to crown lexus in Ontario. Well, good luck with the exchange and all.

I'm still confused, why would Lexus Corp do a buyback on a car because a dealership scratched it and couldn't match the paint. That has nothing to do with Lexus Corp. Also you have an 06 GS300 that you have had 3 months so clearly it's not new. Is this some kind of deal the dealership put together for you to remedy the scratched paint situation?

Read the long story!!!... very interesting!

The thing is is how could you say the best service you ever had?! From what I read, they have sent to through hell before offering you this deal... I hope I will never have to go through this with my dealer.... They owe you a new car after all this...

BTW, it seems to me the dealership is paying for your new car not the corporate!

Hope everything goes smoothly for you from here on1
