I'm one of the unlucky ones in that I've had several problems with mine: power steering died three times, rattles and other noises, a couple of recalls. The noises continue and are a constant source of annoyance. Due to all the issues, I'm in the process of trying to Lemon my car.

That being said, what I'm hoping for is a replacement 08 GS. I think the GS is a great car, and I've heard rumors that Lexus is now paying attention to all the issues people have been having and the 2008 model should be an improvement.... we'll see. If you can wait and pickup an 08 instead of an 07, you may be better off. I have an 06, which was the first model year. I should have known better....

It's true that problems seem bigger than they really are on message boards, since people seek out boards when they have problems. However, the flip side is also true: not everyone that has problems posts on message boards.

I think one thing is certain: the GS has had far more problems than the 'typical' Lexus vehicle, and Lexus has been embarrassed by it. All you have to do is take a look at their drop to #5 (from #1) on Consumer Report's reliability rankings, which is calculated based on actual owner responses. I know mine is in there.

If you are looking at the BMW 535i, you may want to wait a little while. That model uses the same (new) turbo engine as the 335i, and the fuel pump problems that 335i owners have been having are starting to show up on the 535i.

Regarding the tire issue: I think it's a non-starter. The Dunlops on mine started getting really loud around 10,000 miles so I swapped them for P/S2s (non run flat) and love them. It bugged me to have to replace tires this early, but the difference in the ride and handling was well worth it. Even if I knew I'd have to do it going in, I still would have bought the GS.

I love this quote. It sums it all up very nicely. I really miss my Beemers. The GS isn't even half a BMW. One the other hand, my last 3 series saw warranty service 12 times in 3½ years. My GS, three times in 1½ years. Right now, they are taking the dashboard apart to fix my rattle problems before the winter.

BMW's are great but they have their own issues as well.
All cars do for that matter, but I am very happy with Lexus so far.
Who konws what my next car will be, I am actually thinking of joining that local club where I get a new car each month, ranging from a Land Rover, to Lambo, Ferrari, Porchse, Jag, Lex, BMW, MB, all of them are there, for just a little more than I pay now.....

WHat do you think of that that even know about this program?? Wonder how insurance does with that?
At the moment I am just scratching the surface, nothin to serious yet....

But since I get bored so fast with all my cars and bikes, I thought this might be a good idea.
It's pricey but worth it I think...

Lend me your thoughts all.
