Default Broken door hinge

my door hasnt been shutting smoothly for about a week. I have to actually put a little down pressure on the door to get it to close smooth. i took the car to lexus and they said the door hinge is broken and its not covered by warranty. they said it either was opened too far, like on a hill or opened and the wind took it or it was forcefully opened too far and the hinge broke. they said take it to a body shop but the tab is on me. they said they have no clue how to fix it.

As far as i know i didnt do anything to damage the door.

any suggestions?

Try another dealership to see if they will assist. If not, this is definitely a bodyshop fix. If anything they will remove and replace your hinges and refinish them.

Hey, just joined so I could search for this issue. My GS 350 door hinge also just broke and I am getting the same response.

Car was parked on level ground. Had been noticed the door was not closing as smoothly last couple weeks since the dash was fixed for the 3rd time (rattle).

How did things end up for you?

I have a feeling Yano won't respond....he's only got 4 posts, and that was his last...

can't believe a dealership has "no idea" how to fix that. is it that hard to take the door off the hinge and put a new one on?

Unfortunately the door will no longer open without major damage, so the body shop today could not diagnos the problem. Basically, unless the actual hinge is factured there is no proof manufacture defect. I think the spot weld gave out. We'll see if Lexus will step up. Probally a couple grand plus issue now.
