I am looking at buying a fully loaded pre owned 06 GS430 with 4100 miles for about $46900. Do you think the resale value of the 06 GS430 will drop a lot when the new 460 comes out? Should i pass on the deal and wait for the 460?
Huge mistake. Buy a new GS350. The 07 V6 performs just as well as the 06 V8 and has the new GEN 5 navigation. (You should easily be able to land a Nav car for $46K) If you notice, the dealers won't even stock an 07 430 because there is absolutely no reason to buy one when the 350 performs as well and costs less, and gets better gas mileage.
I would drive the 350, and decide if that's enough power for you. If not, then wait for the 460.
In that case i will wait for the GS460. Thanks for your advice.
Thanks
wow, your easily influenced after 1 response. the 460 hasn't even been officially announced and then it will be crazy trying to get one for awhile when it does come out. you are probably a lot like the rest of the 430 owners that like the power of the V8 over a V6 : . the gentleman that sold you to wait was right about the nav system..the new gen is better but the version in the 430 is still very good.
As far as the deal you mentioned, I believe i saw a similar deal on ebay. I actually bought my GS 430 just a couple of weeks ago from a mercedes dealership but paid $3500 less than your deal and had only 7300 miles. So you can wait a year and pay another $15,000+ or so and get the car with the emblem that has the 460 on it. The body style has already been changed so any other changes will be the minor cosmetic type. If you do shop the 06 430, keep looking, I think you could do a little better than $47K...unless i just got lucky on my good deal.
of course, if time and money were not an object to me, I would go after the future 460 too.
good luck...
If you haven't already notice, the GS model holds its value as most typical new cars. Take a look and see what the latest residual value is on a lease for a 3 yr/36,000 mile term (I think it's at 52%). Better then an RL (at 46%) but not nearly as sweet as an M35 (56%).
