I went with 19"s since I had a AWD and the 20"s just looked too big with very low profile tires. Also be award that if you have a AWD you can not run a staggerd set up.

20s are the new 19s.

Think about it this way: if you buy 19s, you WILL occasionally wonder
what your car would look like with 20s. If you buy 20s, you'll never
have any doubt that you made the right choice.

We tell people this when buying plasma or lcd TVs; get the biggest one you can afford. I can't tell you how many people have bought 43" plasmas and later said
"gee, I wonder how cool it would be if we had bought a 50 incher"

Tires are so good nowdays that the difference in ride is minor.
The GS is available with 18s factory, so 19" is only Plus One - very conservative!

FYI - you can run staggered on a AWD car. You just need to make sure the overall tire/wheel diameter is the same. It's easy to do.

I've got 20x8.5's and 20x10.5's coming. Should be here in a couple weeks.

MKIV98TT,

I have had this very discussion with a number of people. The problem with the AWD system is that it is sensitive to traction changes. The wider tire tires the more the traction and this in some way affects the AWD control system in a negative way. The last discussion I had was that if you stagger the tires on an AWD you will void the drive train warrantee. That's way too much for my pocket book to handle especially since we all run our cars aggressively and drive train issues happen all the time. If you void the warrantee you’re done.

Does some one know for sure if Lexus will void the drive train warrantee on the AWD if you stagger the tires, in any way, even if the OD on the sizes is the same?

I say 19"s if you don't plan on getting a kit, 20"s if you do. Oh and if you do plan on putting wheels, it's imperative that you drop it as well to complete the look

going too big and heavy rims will destroy your rotational mass and kill off your gas mileage. I'd say if you guys want to upgrade to 19 or 20 inch, go with a true forged wheel to minimize your gas mileage loss. Just a little food for thought.

I know I'll probably get shot down in flames for this...but I really don't see what is so cool about driving around in a car with wheels the size of dustbin lids!

i've seen both, and both look good...

more important is which wheel you get and the setup vs. size. i'd rather take 19" work vs-xx over 20" giovannis or lexanis... or whatever people are putting on altimas and 300cs these days... too many people just go with "big and chrome" because supposedly it's "in"... they need to stop watching "unique whips"...

i work in newport beach, and u see 40 yr old moms rollin 24s on rovers... cracks me up...
