Default The above sticky regarding the Avic-D3

I just read the sticky above and have a question. I called many places and asked them if you can put an Avic pioneer Navi into a non-Navi GS and most people said no because the non-Navi GS comes with the information center screen that runs temperature buttons and many other things through that screen and it was impossible to put an aftermarket navi in there because there was no where to rewire all that stuff please there was no way to make the navi look stock because the screen was intergrated with the dash moldings and what not. Just figured I would ask the experts about this that actually have GS and if this is true, why do they advertised the Avic-D3 in here. My father and girlfriend have the Avic-N3 and it is an amazing piece of equipment. It has a lot of cool features. thanks in advance.

I guess nobody has thought of putting a aftermarket Navi in the GS. I went to a Custom shop yesterday and said it can be done with the Pioneer Avic-D1. They run all the air controls to a circut breaker with **** so you can change your heat because non-navi GS have all that in the information center.

It can be done.
I want to replace my factory nav with that.
I thought it would be easier without the factory nav.

It should be as simple as taking out the screen that comes it the GS, wether it be a navi or non-navi information screen and put the aftermarket screen in the same slot with some minor work done. I have read so much about these aftermarket navi systems and they offer so much for such a fraction of the cost of the stock navi.

GS with no Navi should use ALPINE VEHICLE HUB PRO.

This will allow complete intergration of aftermarket navigation
while keeping all OEM screen functions.

Simple.

Thanks Balnk, Is the Hub Pro a whole unit that will replace the Information screen or does it transfer the aftermarket nav unit into the stock info screen. Can i buy a Avic-d1 and put that in place stock information screen? Do you have any pics of this set-up. Thanks, I appreciate it, I have been looking for info on this for a while.

From Alpine's website

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...&lang=en&tab=D

You would not use an AVIC unit. The aftermarket nav would mount
in the trunk and you would see it on your GS screen.

Any updates on using the Alpine Vehicle Hub Pro?? Sounds interesting that you can control everything from the **** that comes with this unit, instead of replacing your factory screen/components.

Also wondering if you were to add an aftermarket Nav, wouldn't that require a touchscreen, or would an ALPINE brand nav system understand the input from the **** to control the Navi, or would aftermarket Voice recognition work?

Would love to see if anyone uses this in a Non-navi 3G GS. I would go with this option because I like the flexibility of aftermarket nav's.
