Default New GS350 - Tinting options

Folks,

I'm the proud owner of a new '07 GS350 in Smokey Granite Mica! Looking at tinting options (I'm in California). Can anyone recommend tint percentages for the front and rear windows? Looking for some help in even starting to guess at what percentages might look good on this car. If anyone has any pics of their own GS350 (different colors okay) with tint, please post!

Thanks..

Can't help you with that, but I can warn you. I heard the dealers had issues with any "metal" type tint causing radio interference. So you should look for a ceramic type type tint. Just a heads up.

Here were a couple quick shots of my GS350....which looks identical to yours.

I'm not sure of the tint %....I had the dealer include it for me when I purchased it. I would guess probably ~ 35%. Not too dark, but adequate for me.

Here is a mine. Dealer installed and no radio interference at all.

just had to say nice tint/nice ride. Me likey.
Also, only ceramic, not metallic.
Metallic does/will cause either interference, or a weaker signal than without or with ceramic.

Drewdogg80 - have yet to see a SGM GS350 here in Houston, so if you see someone in a Starfire Pearl GS350 waving at you on the road, that'll likely be me Sweet ride!

Wow, guys, great pics. Appreciate those. I'm going to print them out and bring them to the dealer and/or a shop!

If you go to a reputable shop, they all use modern, metallic/hyrid film that does not interfere with electronics. This film has been in use by the dealers for over 10 years.

Some low end shops still have the old film on the shelves and use it and that is where you get into trouble. I would find out who the dealer uses and go there. Any reputable 3M or SolarGard tint shop will have the proper films.

Haha....I'll keep an eye out for you. Funny you mention not seeing a SGM GS350 in Houston, I just found out a friend of mine purchased one a couple weeks ago as well.

Regarding radio issues and tint, I have not noticed any problems so far.

I am going to put limo 5% for my rear/rear-side and a 50% for front-side windows. Although 70% is legal in CA but mostly a contrast front and rear will get you out of trouble.

The only thing that I worry is the electronic interference... our 07 GS350 got shark fin so does navigation antenna located in the fin? Does Semi-metallic film affect the electronic signal/nav?
