Default Shoe teaser

The GS is getting a x-mas present....some new shoes. I know the black on black thing is getting tired but it's classy. The longer I look at them the better I like them. Don't know when I'll get around to mounting them. Anyway, here's a pic.

I looked around and see no posts on offsets. I'm a little concerned that 35 offset may be too low for my fat set up. Most here know I always use 245-40-19 for a better ride. My wife will kill me if I have to go lower and the ride is compromized. Plus, my wife rides people in the back seats. Can't have rubbing.
Will this fitment work?

I'm not sure about your question. I'll use them on whatever wheels I end up putting on the car. These have pretty low offset. May be too low. I won't know until I try to install since no one is telling me it's okay from their experience. Currently the TPM's are being used with the aftermarket 17's I have on the car. No problems I can see. Those wheels were on the ES I traded in, the wheels are 4 years old. Have you heard of any issues?

Looks like I'll be trying to mount these puppies soon. The tires just arrived. Kudos to Tirerack. I ordered the tires Monday and they got here today. That's pretty quick. Especially since there is so much x-mas stuff going on. I bought Dunlop Sport Maxx 245-40-19. They got good ratings from the Tirerack reviews.
Anyone have any experience with these? They gotta be a decent tire at almost $260 a piece.

Hey Reggie, I see you ended up going with the 35offset after all huh? I have never really dealt with the Sport Maxx so I cant advise you on fitment with those. Anyways good luck and post some pics when they are mounted!

Yeah, I'm gonna try it. Carl at Sevas swears it will work without sticking out. I was pissed he didn't tell me the truth over the phone. I asked for 40 offset and he said he had it. He gave me such a good price I decided to try. He promised to return the money if it didn't fit to my liking. It should be okay. The GS on your website with the 20 HR2, I assume the fronts are 35 offset. If so, they look pretty good in the pics. Not sticking out much at all. We'll see, I'm planning to mount the wheels today.

Just got back from getting the wheels installed. The car looks a lot better. It's raining here so pics will have to wait. The 3GS was made for bigger wheels. The 19's with fat rubber fill the wheel wells but I can see that 21's would work easily. In fact, there was a 3GS there with 22's and I swear it didn't look that bad. The guy said he had to chop and cut but it looks alright. He was a young guy. He said he knows a grown man like me wouldn't like it and he understands if I didn't. Since he had a good attitude I told him that no, I wouldn't do something like that to a classy car but I understand he's a kid. Plus, it did look okay. He had MHT wheels with massive lip. Had that beautiful silver-ish, sort of platinum color with pearl. Awesome paint.
There was also a guy with the new style MB CL. He was getting 22 inch Sporza multipiece wheels. They were chopping and cutting the suspension and fenders to make it work. Call me a fuddy duddy but that is just plain stupid imo. A 100K car getting cut and chopped for big stupid wheels. He could have gotten 21 or 20's. I shouldn't be so critical though.

Dunlop Sport Maxx are OEM for many IS's with 18" rims. So far no complaints from me, they are not as light nor as expensive as Michelin Pilot PS2, and are lighter and same money as Potenzas RE050. Not too noisy, and not too harsh, a nice all around performing summer tire. Only downside is the tread will prolly only last 24k - YMMV . . .
