Windshield scratches easily - Careful!!!
Star,
I don't know what you have there, have you tried some window cleaner and see if it goes away? I still don't know what happened with my old windshield. I didn't do or use anything different on this car. I believe that lexus windshield is softer; therefore, it chips & scratches easier than others.

I keep my comprehensive deductible at $100 precisely because there's no separate glass coverage. Learned my lesson after having to pay for two $500 windshields in a span of a month (two different cars).
Actually, most don't, at least in the states I've lived in. I've been with more than ten insurance companies in the last 15 years and I've never had one offer glass coverage. I'm only aware of one company that does - GEICO. I think this also depends on the state you're in.
After a rock hit my windshield while on the freeway the other day, I decided to examine my windshield more closely. After only a few seconds, I found 4 or 5 light surface scratches right over the driver's side!!! I tried cleaning it over and over, thinking that it was just residue, but it was in fact a scratch. It's not deep enough where I catch my fingernail in it. Is there anyway for me to buff it out? What are some recommended polishing/buffing compounds? Thanks.

If it doesn't come off with any glass cleaner, you can't get it off. Mine were in the direct line of sight and I had it replaced under comprehensive insurance. I had tried 2 separate glass shops and they both stated either live with it, or have it replaced. Sorry!
