Default Remote Start -- Question

I rec'd an email from a local dealership that a remote start system was available for the GS300 AWD (and IS250 AWD) -- anyone have any additional information or thoughts? is it a lexus product? do we need a second key fob? (i'll call them later, hopefully)

i don't think there is anything from factory for that. in japan they have the remote start units for the car, but have yet to have someone try it here for the US models

So, it is possible to have a remote start with this push-button system?

Here is a copy of the email...:

We are pleased to announce that you can now install a remote starter into your 2006 Lexus GS300AWD. Prior to now the push button start prevented a proper and safe remote starter installation. Additionally, there will be no impact to your electrical warranty and you will not forfeit one of your keys.

Very Interesting....

You say this letter came from your dealer? Did it say that it was a
Lexus installed part? or an aftermarket?

question, if it isnt a lexus part, yet it is installed by the dealer, would that not automatically be covered. shouldnt all work preformed by the dealer be covered?

I'm very interested in this. Please let us know what the dealer says, and which dealer in MA it is.

I called the number but the lady I spoke to had no idea about this
offer. She spoke to one of the service managers and all he said
was they were afraid to install the remote starter because of the
Push Button start system. She said she was going to speak to the
other service manager tomorrow and give me a call about her
findings.

Can you post the email in its entirety and let us know if it came
from the sales or the service department? Maybe it's a case
of the sales people jumping the gun and selling something they
don't have

Called them again and initially she said it was going to be
impossible because of PushButton start. Then she went to check
with the sales people and said this is brand new and can be made
to work for our cars.

I'm taking it in next Wednesday. Hopefully it will work out well.
I'll let you know of my experiences

Thanks for the email info. Giving them the name of the sales
manager helped.

Did they tell you more about the unit? is it a separate fob or combined? OEM unit or after market?
