turned off?

He's from Kuwait, give him a break.

Speed alarms? Is that something new incorporated into the newer GS?

You can go with an aftermarket digital speedo I guess, such as a GPS or something. But I don't know of anything that'll look clean and take over the analog one.

I always thought the GS was gear limited.

Jesus Christ! If you're going to make fun of someone's grammar, at least spell it right.

Default Speed Alarm on Asia Pacific Version

There is a speed alarm on the GS version we get here in Kuwait; it beeps exactly 9 times when you exceed 120 km/h (75 mph). Then you get a flashing red triangle and an annoying "Speed Limit Exceeded" message on the speedo display. Without cutting wires I don't know how you would go about disabling this.

There is a therapeutical approach to this annoying feature: press the DISP button and the flashing triangle / speed message will disappear for about 5 seconds. After you've done this about 20 times you begin to realise that it doesn't really bother as much as pressing the DISP button .

If you are looking for a digital speedometer, you can access the INFO / TRIP INFO readout while cruising at a fixed speed and press the reset button - your "average speed" will give you your current speed and is a more accurate readout than the regular analogue speedometer.

BALNK dude - there's a little button that kinda looks like a tick mark with "ABC" letters on it - next time you post here, give it a try!

Yes it is now, after editing it... But lets stay on topic.

Speed alarms are not on the GS series in the USA and since they more than likely use the same ECU there logically should be a way to turn them off. Unless they are a part of the analog gauge cluster it self and tripped as the needle rises past a sensor.

I honestly miss the one on my Touareg now more than ever. I thought the Touareg got up to speed quickly, but after a week I look down and I'm doing at least 80 all the time.

Once someone figures out how to turn it off, we need to figure out how to turn it on before I get my first ticket.

My Touareg lease is up end of October and I now know what Toureg means: Over priced german pile of crap. Yukkkk! Sorry I had to vent, this was the worst vehicle I've ever owned. I can't wait to slide into a new gs350.

I hear you xxx, the Touareg was an absolute piece, and I loved getting treated like I a teenager that just bougt a GTI every time I went to the dealer. The GS350 is far superior, although some things do feel cheap in the Lexus compared to the VW. The NAV is light years ahead of the Toe rag's.
