Default Too much brake dust on your GS 430???

Heads up for fellow GS430 owners.

Took my GS430 in for its 15k service this weekend. During the service, my longtime friend/tech informed me there is a new TSB for excessive brake dust for GS430 owners. To be honest, the amount of brake dust did bug me, but I figured it was normal for the larger pads.

Anyhow, I got new front pads/brake kit installed under warranty. Good thing, since I was down to below 20% on my front pads...rears are still at 70%. I'll keep an eye out to see if these newly designed pads do indeed produce less dust.

wow that is really cool. i don't know my brake pad wear yet, but to get a new set 1/2 way thru the lease would be fantastic!

do you have the TSB # by any chance?

Sorry, I didn't get the TSB number from my tech. All he told me was that there was a newly released TSB for the brake dust issue, and my GS was only the second car they've replaced the brake pads/kit on. Let me know if your SA can't find the TSB. I'll also contact my tech and see if I can get the number.

And yes, Lexus service is quite exceptional...saved me the expense of having to get new front pads

I had my front pads replaced 2 weeks ago. I didn't know about the TSB but I had worn them down to the wear indicators after only 16K miles. I had hoped for a new pad formula, but after 2 weeks of use, I would say any difference in brake dust using these new pads vs the old ones is minimal at best.
