Default Potential GS Owner needs some advices

Hello Lexus owners,
I am undecided about which GS model to select: 2007 GS430 or GS350
Any advise to help make my choice. Also what color exterior and interior do you recommend?

There doesn't seem to be much reason to buy (and pay extra for) a 2007 GS430, based on the other posts on this site. The GS350's V6 engine matches its horsepower and provides better gas mileage, if less of a sports-car-like initial acceleration.

As for colors, that's all about personal taste. I think the 3GS body shape looks much more aggressive and dangerous in the darker colors, especially Obsidian and Black Sapphire. Smoky Granite Mica and Quartz Shadow Metallic are also very good. The Matador Red isn't too bad, but Mercury Metallic is the only lighter color that the car looks OK in to me. Sorry fans, but Chardonnay Pearl (doesn't match Cashmere interior) and Glacier Frost Mica (like a 1950's refrigerator) are ghastly colors for this car. Starfire Pearl is a decent take on white, but I'm just not into white cars.

Likewise, the Black interior looks better to me than the Cashmere - nice but hard to clean - or the Ash Gray - hard to clean and much too light, it makes nice leather look like cheap vinyl since it isn't a "natural" leather color. Lexus should offer more interior color choices like dark gray, dark brown, or dark red.

MA is Massachusetts? I'd say get the GS350 AWD for the snow you'll get. I believe the mpg is still better than the 430. I'm waiting for my house mortgage to be up in two years and GS350 AWD, here I come. Unless they put a GS380 AWD by then...

Definitely go for the 350 over the 430. I say, save the money and get some mods! But that's just me...

So it's "Obsidian" instead of "Onyx" now, huh? Is it actually a different paint or did they just change the name? I bet it's still just Toyota 202. Way to go all MB on us, Lexus!

Yeah, I personally like black/black. But if you don't like to constantly clean and detail your car then I'd probably suggest something lighter and metallic.

I read here somewhere that Obsidian is actually a darker black than Black Onyx, with a clear coat over it. The one I test drove was Obsidian (I didn't like the Ash interior, so I'm waiting on a Black one) but it was still dusty from the trip on the car carrier up from SoCal so I couldn't tell exactly how black it was.

Obsidian/Black is the best look for urban/suburban GS owners. Just stay off of dusty back roads and visit the hand car wash frequently.

The decision should be AWD vs RWD.

AWD - get the 350 obviously
RWD - screw the 430, the 450h is a monster!!!!!!

Ah I see. All Lexus paints have clear coat nowadays (yes, even the Onyx).

Good luck avoiding dust. Haha. Post some pics you get it, man.

And invest in a clear bra. You would cringe at the condition of my front bumper after 15k miles. No long road trips either, just everyday wear and tear from So. Cal. freeways

Hmm, tough call. The sound and feeling of a V8 is tough to beat, but I'd lean towards the 350 if I had to choose right now. Performance difference is negligible, and the 350 offers better MPG and a lower price.

The best alternative would be to wait until the Spring for much rumored release of the GS460.
