I was considering trading in my car (a.k.a. "snap, crackle & pop") , but according to someone at Global BMW (ALT) who checked my car's trade in value against what they are getting at the auctions, my car's wholesale value is $34K. Sticker was $46K 1 year ago

I was just talking to my friend at the stealership and she was telling me that they have 6 GS3's and the sticker on them is set at 39,900 regardless of milage. I guess the more miles the more you can work them down, but still 39,9 as a base sticker for a fully loaded 06.
Based on Toyota sales reports, it looks like the market for GS 300s has softened up a bit. For the first six months of 2006, Lexus averaged a little less than 1900 GS 300s sold per month as compared to the same period in 2005 when they averaged closer to 2100 Gs 300s per month. If you subtract out 2005 GS 300 sales before the redesign, 2005 sales are even stronger.
It looks like the GS 300 may have lost some of its appeal in the face of competition from other manufacturers and even other Lexus models like the IS 350 and the new ES 350. I know that for me personally, I would be much more inclined to replace my current GS 400 with an ES 350 than purchase either a GS 300 or the current GS 430. But then that's just my two cents...
wait for the GS350 and GS460, then the whole game changes. However anyone now looking for a GS like car and dont really need power can get amazing deals on them

many people considering an 06 gs300 in 2006 are waiting for the gs350 instead, this is why it is slower ....but in 2005, we all wanted the newest car and did not care a new one would be here in a year to 18 months.....if i am not wrong, some of the 06s sold as early as april??

Nah.... I doubt that people are waiting for the GS350 because no one besides us on this forum knows about it. They did not announce it at any of the car shows and have not done any advertising yet about the GS350. I think the IS350 is cannabilizing sales amoung the younger crowd and the new ES350 is doing the same amoung the older crowd.

yes, you are right. i got mine in March 2005, and i leased it because i knew that the hybrid was on the horizon and possibly a bigger engine. at least for me the wait for the 460 was at least two years away. but for people in the market now, of course the current GS300 and GS430 are slow to sell with the anticipation of the 350 right around the corner.
Talked to my friend at the stealership again today, and she told me that the priced dropped again today. It's dropped twice in a week and a half, Saturday before last it was 42,9 then last week went down to 39,9 and today it went to 37,9. For some reason they have a set sticker price for all of the pre owned GS' and I'm assuming that they adjust later depending on milage? I really wanted to wait for the 350, but man it's going to be hard to pass one of these up at this price. I think I'm going to jump on this now because it will take atleast a year to 18 months for the 350 to be at a reasonable price...
I agree that you should be able to buy the GS350 below MSRP shortly after it's available. The mid-size luxury segment is fairly crowded. Consumers have other choices too (e.g. 530i, E350, A6, M35, etc)
