I believe you can see the number if the car is moving very slowly or stopped.
If the number that is calling is stored in your phone book (with matching area code), then you will see the name (not the number), even if you are moving at speed.

hm...so that's how you do that...haha...thanks for the info!
yes everytime someone calls, slow down REALLY slow.
i was quoting the storing the numbers onto the car so it will show up no matter what...but i think people should slow down when your talking on the fone in the car...heh
is there any way to add some one to the phone book manually?
To the best of my knowledge you can't enter numbers manually - search this site - there's loads of info on this topic...the best way to get numbers into your car is using the transfer option. If your phone only sends entries one by one - borrow someone elses phone - it's a one time thing...
Rather than start a new thread, I've got a phone book question. We switched over to Cingular as Verizon wouldn't let me transfer numbers and Cingular only let's me send one at a time but that's OK for us as we have a limited number of contacts we want to carry over.
My problem is that the first name - last name sequence changes from the phone to the car. In the phone it's Last Name-space-First Name. when I transfer it, it shows up as First Name-space-Last Name. This is the case on both phones we have, a Nokia 9300 and a Motorola V557. This is particularly weird as the Motorola just has a single text field for the whole name not separate fields for first and last like the Nokia.
I'm working around it but it strikes me as odd. Overall, we're pleased with the Hands Free but seems like Lexus needs to do some upgrades to the whole phone book issue, laptop interface, etc.
