Default A/C seats

Do you guys feel that these are effective? I run mine on "3" and can barely feel any air coming out. I wish the air flow was stronger.

I noticed them when I test drove 06 430. It almost feels un natural to have your butt stay cool like that.

when the car is in motion, the air blows harder ( ), but when it is in a stopped position or driving slow, it's not very knoticeable.

i think they just help cool the seats down when they r warm like after parking in the sun rather than blowing cool air

they are definitely strong enough at level 3 to feel air blowing through the holes in the seat. if you put your hand over the seat when it is on, there is a draft. nothing like the A/C vents, but still a draft. and if you are stopped silently at a traffic light, you can here the motor in the seat running (again, not very loud, but noticeable).

i think it works pretty well. the weather is getting pretty warm now, and it is definitely nice to have it when the car has been parked for a while in the sun, or when you are driving for long periods of time. only our GS has this feature, but it would be great to have it on the SC (for top down moments) and the RX (black leather seats). i guess all the models will have them soon enough.

Default thermoelectric seat coolers

Although I did not take my car seats apart, I believe that there are thermoelectric coolers (Peltier) installed in both front seats. They can cool or heat. In fact, I am a supplier of thermoelectric modules that can be used for this kind of application and I can assure you that all future upscale cars will have this technology. These are solid state devices that utilize Peltier effect. You can find them in thermoelectric picnic coolers, water coolers or enclosure A/Cs. If you are interested in this technology you can learn more at www.inbthermoelectric.com

I believe they are produced by a company that I cover called Amerigon (www.amerigon.com). Next time I'm out there I'm going to see if they can juice them up!

Default seat AC

It’s called Peltier effect not Pelti air. Increasing the cooling fan size will not produce more cooling. You have to increase the power of the thermoelectric module (Peltier). This can draw a lot of current as well as create excess heat on the hot side of the TE module.

"Artoo, see you if you can increase the power!"

If you know this quote you're a geek like me.

Default Definitely Effective

I believe they are definitely effective. Here in New England we've had 100+ degree days with high humidity. The GS has been very effective in keeping me from sweating in my seat.

On the flip side, I was driving our GX yesterday and was sweating like a pig. I hope they will soon add ventilated seats to all Lexus vehicles.

You may not feel a huge difference, but they are extremely effective.

agree 100%. up in LA today for work, it's a scorching 104 b/c of hurricane emily. the vent seats are helping, in addition to having light grey seats.
