Information is coming in faster than I can type. The GS300 has a conventional braking system which I hardly used during my test drive. The all Admantium (Sick reference) GS430 has a Hughes brake by wire system. The brakes are apparently very sensitive with soft pads that get the job done from 100 to zero. Also new rotors that wear in like brake pads. This is the first time we have had this type of race level braking. That is good for high performance yet can take some getting used to on the street. For instance if you are in stop and go traffic you might get tired of feathering the brakes and it is suggested to put the trans lever into the +/- shift slot and drop it into 1st gear and let the tranny take care of the light work. The pads will likely wear thin at 20,000 miles. The rotors will need replacing at the same time. That just gives me another reason not to use the brakes much......
I am buying one cna u give me some more info on this.. So your saying cruisin in that city dun use regular drive use a diff gear to take the stress off the brakes??
If you are stuck in slow stop and go for example around the Lincoln Tunnel access to Midtown then use 1st gear to help you move forward and stop. I drove the GS430 today for the first time but not for long and not like I drove the GS300 AWD last week. This car only had 17 miles on it when it rolled off the truck. I found the brakes easy to adapt to but the wear issue still applies. It was wet and I wanted to try out the VDIM to see how it kept the car out of trouble. I halfheartedly gave it some throttle but didn't get any sense of the system reacting. This is the first stock model to arrive and I wanted to baby it until our preview next Monday. If you're in the Rockville, Md. area and want to look at it your are welcome to come by. It is Black/Cashmere.
