Default Front Shock Upper Mount Spring Indent Missing?

Hi all,
Looking for some feedback and clarification.

I just replaced the shock and upper mount on the front left of my 2008 GS 460. While installing the replacement upper mount, I noticed it lacked the indentation for the spring to sit, unlike the old part.

The part numbers on both the old and new upper mounts match: 48680-30340. However, I see there are two part numbers available for the upper mount when searching on mylparts:

Upper Mount - Lexus (48680-30310)
Upper Mount - Lexus (48680-30340)

Here are the links for reference:

Part 1 (48680-30340) https://lexus.oempartsonline.com/oem...Y4LWdhcw%3D%3D

Part 2 (48680-30310) https://lexus.oempartsonline.com/oem...Y4LWdhcw%3D%3D

Does anyone know if there’s a functional difference between these part numbers, or why the newer part wouldn’t have an indentation for the spring?

Any insight or additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Happy holidays,
3gsdan

are you talking about an indentation in the rubber of the mount?

Hi msperal95
yes exactly. I’m wondering if it just happened naturally over time? Thank you for the reply

yeah I’m pretty sure that just happens from the pressure on the mount by the spring over time.

wow thank you so much for that confirmation.
I’m installing the other side now and was feeling a little apprehensive. I searched a bunch of different upper mount brands and none seemed to have an indentation new.

I’ll try to add a photo later in case anyone else runs into this dilemma. The issue was created in my mind after watching an install video where the old upper mount was reused so the indentation was referenced.

anyway, really appreciate your help,
happy holidays!

I don’t think you have anything to worry about, just make sure the mount is aligned right. If I remember right, there’s a mark on the top I think? Happy holidays to you as well!
