New modules

Hello
I lost all my keys to my 2006 lexus gs300 and waa told by the dealer to replace the smart key certification ecu and the ID code box. How can I get these programmed so I can add new keys?

that doesn't make any sense. can't they just program a new key based on the VIN?

This is the first year of the proximity key fob. You cannot cut a key based on the Vin.

well that's lame. do you know if that applies to all proximity fob cars? how does that even work tho? what if you had the keys, but just wanted to get an extra one programmed? Was it impossible to get extra keys made for the 06 gs?
