Hi everyone
I've noticed this seems to be unplugged. I look and cannot find where this plug goes. What is it? I do have a few error codes on the dash, I think is from something else.
Any idea where this goes?

Well, it definitely is not an OBD plug, that's for sure. It's. too small.

Umm, not sure what you are seeing, but that is the OBD port.

It's definetly not the obd port. I have a obd reader and it does not fit. Also the obd post is a female terminal while this plug is male.

Copilot answer:
From the location and appearance in your photo (under the driver’s side dash, clipped to a bracket near the steering column on a Lexus GS), that connector is not a missing plug and not OBD.

What it is

This is a factory “service / check connector” that Lexus (Toyota) installs for manufacturing, dealer servicing, and diagnostics during assembly.

Toyota/Lexus commonly leave these connectors:
  • Unplugged
  • Clipped into a holder
  • With paint dots (blue/white) to show it passed factory inspection
They are not meant to connect to anything in normal vehicle use.

Why it’s there

Depending on market and options, the same harness is used for multiple trims. Some connectors are left unused for:
  • Assembly-line diagnostics
  • Dealer testing
  • Optional equipment not fitted to your car
  • Factory calibration tools (Techstream, check modes, etc.)
On the GS platform (S190), this specific under-dash connector is commonly:
  • A check / test connector
  • Sometimes used briefly when programming ECUs or testing systems
  • Then clipped back and left alone

❌ What it is NOT

  • Not OBD-II (that’s a 16‑pin trapezoid connector lower under the dash)
  • Not an alarm connector
  • Not cruise control, traction, or airbag wiring
  • Not something that should be connected

Should you plug something into it?

No. Leave it exactly as it is.
  • Connecting random devices can trigger warning lights or faults
  • Lexus designed it to stay unused in normal operation
If the car:
  • Has no warning lights
  • Drives normally
  • Has no unplugged matching connector nearby
Then everything is correct.
