Default GS 460, how to get Sirius

I picked up a really nice 08 GS 460 last week. Trying to hook up satellite radio service. I have the ML audio, has AM/SAT button but nothing happens when I try to toggle it. Sirius tells me the VIN is invalid. There is a shark fin antenna. On the Lexus owner's website under vehicle specs it doesn't really mention Satellite, just AM/FM, cassette and 6 CD changer, doesn't mention ML either, but it clearly has the ML logo on the radio. Any thoughts?

Satellite radio was an option in 2008. The cars were pre-wired and came with a satellite antenna, but the actual tuner box was optional (and I think they sold separate boxes for Sirius and XM). The tuner box plugs in to a wiring harness in the trunk, typically under the rear deck, on the right hand side. I believe the satellite modules came with a separate supplementary manual that was supposed to be kept with the owner's manual.

It sounds like you might not have the tuner (and therefore, the satellite option). You could try finding the kit (possibly, PT54630050CK?), but installing it can be a bit of a pain. You could also consider the Grom VLine system which can add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to your car.

I hate to say it, but your best bet may be to simply download the SiriusXM app and play it through your aux jack.

On my 2007 RX, I bought a Vaistech Sat radio tuner, and had a stereo shop install it. It plugs directly into the factory headunit and the car recognizes it as satellite radio. It worked seamlessly just like AM/FM radio with presets on the screen etc. The only thing is they had to install a little black antennae box at the passenger side of the roof against the windshield. And run the wire down to the glovebox.

Thanks, that's what I'm doing. Works but hard to flip around channels while driving.
